The Start
Max has been part of the Mychal’s family since 2010 in our Path to Independence Program. Max has many interests! He loves spending time with his friends both in person (when possible) and on Zoom. Max likes music and dancing, especially to Michael Jackson hits! He enjoys playing baseball on the Challenger team and soccer on the VIP team. He’s a super sports fan and watches basketball, baseball, football, and hockey. Max likes many teams, but he loves all things Lakers! He has fun whenever he travels and participates in activities with his family. A few of his favorite places include Knoxville, TN and Hawaii.
Gaining Independence
Max has gained a great deal of self confidence and independence since joining Mychal’s. The programs over the years have allowed Max to learn new skills and apply those skills to internship and employment opportunities. Max has also gained wonderful friendships which foster kindness, respect and acceptance. Max says, “My favorite thing about Mychal’s is drawing/art and hanging out with friends.” Max loves participating in Mychal’s events. In the past, he’s loved dancing at the student prom. He had fun at the Luncheon and Santa Stroll this past year.
Future Goals
Max is currently working at Mychal’s Cafe at the Torrance Medical Center and works special events as well. Max explains, “I like working in The Café and serving baked goods, iced lattes, coffee, and serving customers.” He has had many experiences with corporate partners including interning at Mattel, Rock & Brews, El Segundo Museum of Art, Murad. Max would love to work full time at Mychal’s Cafe/Bakery or Mychal’s Printing & Embroidery. He wants to always live close to his family and friends. It has been amazing to see Max grow and continue to learn independent skills. Keep up the great work and always reach for the stars!
